Ex-private investigator arrested on illegal gun possession charges

Manlius, NY -- A former Syracuse private investigator who once claimed he was rescued by aliens was arrested last week on charges of possessing three illegal handguns in his home.
Noah Felice, 61, was arrested Thursday after Onondaga County sheriff's deputies found three handguns, two of them loaded, when they executed a search warrant at his home, sheriff's Deputy Herb Wiggins said.
Felice's pistol permit was permanently revoked in 2010 when he was convicted of lying on his permit application by saying he did not have a criminal record.
Deputies found a loaded .22-caliber semi-automatic handgun, a loaded .45-caliber handgun and an unloaded 22-caliber semi-automatic handgun in Felice's home, Wiggins said.
Felice was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony. He posted bail and was released from the Onondaga County Justice Center jail Thursday night, Wiggins said.
In 2008, Felice was featured in a History Channel show about UFOs, claiming he was flying a plane over the Pacific Ocean in 1980 when a beam of liquid light shot out of the water and forced his plane to crash, killing his cousin. Felice, then 28, claimed he was dead in the water for 15 to 20 minutes and that extraterrestrials rescued him.
The Federal Aviation Administration blamed Felice for the crash, saying he diverted his attention from the plane.
Three years ago, Felice got on the ballot for a town judge's seat in Oswego County by setting up what appeared to be a phony home address in Constantia. He dropped out of the race after The Post-Standard published a story about the residency question.
In March, the state revoked Felice's PI's license and fined him $10,000 for repeatedly lying about his criminal record. The state Department of State ruled he committed perjury and tried to deceive state officials on his applications for licenses to be a private investigator and a security guard.
The state also revoked the licenses of Felice's companies, Spectrum Security and Investigative Services Inc.
Despite that ruling, Felice filed a new business certificate last month at the county clerk's office for Spectrum Investigations.
Felice refused to comment when he was reached by phone today.
Along with the Onondaga County conviction in 2010 for lying on his pistol permit, Felice was also convicted in Pike County, Pa., that same year for falsely swearing that he had no criminal record when he applied for a private detective's license there.
He was convicted in 1992 of sexual battery and in 1982 of grand theft.
